More About NADRS

National Animal Disease Reporting System (NADRS)

The National Animal Disease Reporting System (NADRS) is executed through National Informatics Centre (NIC). The objective of the NADRS Project is to record and monitor livestock disease situation in the country with a view to initiate preventive and curative action on the basis of outbreaks reported in a timely and speedy manner. NADRS involves a computerized network linking each Block, District and the State/UT Headquarter in the country with the Central Project Monitoring Unit (CPMU) in DADF at New Delhi. It is web based and will report occurrences of animal diseases’ data from the Block level Veterinary Units (BVUs).
The scheme was formally inaugurated in February 2013. The department has made improvements therein based on inputs from the stakeholders. The internet connectivity hitherto provided through Virtual Private Network (VPNoBB)was reported to be slow and therefore converted to Broadband internet (BB internet) for smooth transmission of reporting of animal disease data. Training on the modified software was conducted by NIC to familiarize users on the modified version.
At present, the NADRS network has got 7032 nodes spread out all over the countryresponsible for disease reporting.
